Well, it's another year. My, how fast 2012 went by. It seemed as if it had just been summer and now we're done. What comes with new years? Resolutions. For our family, to be more precise it's goals. One of our major goals for 2013 is to get our home as self efficient as possible. We like to call ourselves Preppers, though not on a level of most others you see on TV.
We are a low income family and every bit of financial freedom comes hard earned with pinching pennies and scrimping and being creative where ever we can. We are close because of it and of course very creative. Our goals as a family this year include:
1.) Becoming self reliant on our garden, rain barrels, composting and making things we can out of what we grow.
2.) Improving the house both in organization and in energy effeicency.
3.) Improving our own individual talents.
4.) Improving the education of the children.
5.) Be prepared in case anything bad ever happens. This could be a bad storm, an earthquake, what ever it might be.
6.) Teach the children the skills they will need when they're adults and out on their own. Ellie has only five years until she's an adult. How time flies.
Caelan has decided to homeschool for 2013-2014 school year full time. Wether he goes back to public school or not is still up in the air at the moment. I'll still be afterschooling with Ellie and RJ. We're doing to do some catch up during the summer on certain subjects and play in the fields that interest the children. We might even look at the cost of colleges they might want to attend.
Within all this will be bridging RJ to boyscouts and making our Cubscout pack even better, field trips and lots of reading.
